ADULT ELECTIVES FOR SEPTEMBER – DECEMBER, 2010 9:00-10:00
- Be Given to Hospitality
No matter how beautiful or warm a church building, it cannot match the intimacy and comfort a home offers. God wants us to surrender our residences to Him because He wants to use our resources to introduce people to Him. Scripture commands Christians to be hospitable and provide hospitality. In this class, members will explore this commandment and consider ways that may encourage Christians toward its fulfillment in today’s society. The goal will be to inspire your heart and hands to service. Devotions will focus on the welcoming nature of God and the theme of serving others. Text: Open Heart, Open Home by Karen Mains. Linda Talbott, facilitator. suggested book donation:$11.00
- The Fruit of the Spirit We have many yardsticks for measuring Christian greatness, but the fruit of the Spirit is not high on the list; we seem to prefer other forms of greatness. By looking at scriptural insights from John W. Sanderson’s book, The Fruit of the Spirit, you will learn why the Bible places the highest value on the fruit as a means of measuring spiritual growth. The lessons in this class are for everyone who wants to grow closer to God and apply Biblical truth to the problems of the present day. Jon Woodard, facilitator. suggested book donation: $9.50
- Romans
This New Testament favorite is full of basic tidbits for us to apply to our lives. Paul wrote to present the basic system of salvation, to explain the relationship of Jew and Gentile in God’s overall plan of redemption, and to show that Christians can demonstrate their faith in practical ways in the church and in the world. Jim Finocchiaro, facilitator. suggested book donation: $3.50
